«Painting with sound» is a public lecture organised by Harbour.Space University in collaboration with Onecowork.
This talk will be conducted by Joshua Davis, a visionary pioneer in the world of Interactive Design.
Everything around us triggers a sensation and sound plays a large part in complementing our sight and completing an image. Now, imagine if sound was one of the primary drivers when it comes to design, an essential element shaping the design process.
Joshua Davis is known for creating visual installations through programming, mainly for events and concerts. He even took part in big projects such as the stage design of celebrities such as Pharrel Williams and Taylor Swift at Super Bowl concerts.
This lecture will dive into:
— Joshua Davis’s work based on creating visual patterns with basic coding
— Using Processing software to generate images, interactions, and animations
— Creating interactive visual installations reacting to sound
— Experimentation with new techniques
About Joshua Davis:
Since 1995, Joshua Davis, an American designer, technologist, author and artist in new media, has made a career as an image maker using programming. He writes his own code to produce interactions with users and to generate visual compositions according to rule-based, randomized processes.

Since 2000, he has lectured globally about his work, inspirations and motivations at museums, galleries, institutions and art festivals. He has spoken at the TED (2005) and 99U (2013) conferences about his career in algorithmic image making and open source.
